“Yes Day” is a short form video I created to honour the successful outcome of Australia’s same-sex marriage postal survey. It was created in a few short hours. I wanted the general atmosphere and surroundings on the day to inform the content, so this needed to be produced on an extremely tight deadline to ensure same-day delivery. Impromptu celebrations were taking place outside my studio space on Smith St, Fitzroy, which definitely inspired the look and feel of this piece. The video consists of digitally manipulated footage I captured on an iPhone 6, text graphics and digital lighting effects. I kept the visuals simple to capture the immediacy, as well as the sense of openness and jubilation I witnessed during this historic event.
