How to make a 3D Sphere – After Effects Tutorial

In this After Effects motion graphic tutorial we are going to be taking a look at how to make a sphere. With this technique, you can produce planets, moons, balls, or anything in the shape of a sphere in After Effects. I used to wonder how to make a planet in After Effects and this is how.

Editor’s Note:
In After Effects, there are many great built in plugins. For the case of creating a 3D sphere in after effects, that plugin is called cc sphere. CC sphere tutorials all cover the same things, but this tutorial covers lighting as well. After Effect sphere animation can be used for earth animation in after effects, moon animation in after effects, or any other round object in after effects. CC sphere after effects plugin is free and comes with ae. After Effect globe animation can only be accomplished using cc sphere. So this actually doesn’t create a 3d sphere after effects, it is a 3d sphere in after effects projected onto a 2d plane. Just an FYI. Now I’m off to create a planet in after effects, let me know if a tutorial like, how to make a planet in after effects or how to make earth in after effects would be something you want to see. Thanks!
