VideoPad – How to Add a Zoom Effect
To zoom a video clip, click the FX button on a clip in the sequence to open the Effects dialog. Click the plus button and select Zoom. On the Clip Preview, use the widget handles to drag each edge to form an area to which the clip will be zoomed. To maintain the correct aspect ratio, select an aspect ratio from the Restraint dropdown.
Continue watching for additional details on how to zoom a video and animation to your zoom.
A clip’s Effects dialog can also be opened by selecting a clip on the sequence or in the media bin, then, clicking the Video Effects button on the toolbar. Or, click on the FX button on your sequence clip. Click the add button and select Zoom.
If you simply want to zoom in on one portion of the entire clip, adjust the widget on the preview by clicking and dragging the widget handles. The handles are the small boxes on the corners and center points of the widget. You can also adjust the zoom by moving the sliders in the zoom properties or enter the percentage in the text box. You can move the zoom effect by clicking in the center of the widget and dragging it to the new position.
To animate the zoom, click on the show animation editor button on the far right of the Effects toolbar. Click on the show animation lines for each axis. Position the cursor at the beginning of the clip in the clip preview window. Then, click the add keyframes at the current position button in the animation editor. Without moving the cursor, adjust the widget to your starting position or leave as is if you want it to start full frame. Move your cursor to the end of the clip in the clip preview. Click the add keyframes at the current position button. Adjust the widget to the ending zoom position. Check the box next to the Preview effect, then, click play in the clip preview window to view your animation. To make additional edits, uncheck the Preview effect checkbox.
