Easy and Fun Cityscape Watercolour Cake Tutorial
This one is for my gorgeous sister in law, who turned 18 years old this week 🙂 She requested clouds and crescent moon and gave me the colours teal and purple to work with. This is what I came up with haha! I have to say, when I pained the cityscape, I was worried I would cover too much of the teal section, so I decided to only paint down half way.. and I was pretty happy with the wispy city effect. I would LOVE to see what this looks like against a solid black fondant cake. And then right at the bottom, just under the city, some gold calligraphy writing. Bahh! I have got to try that some time and share the results with you guys 😉 Or if someone else tries it, please do send me your photo, I would absolutely love to see it.
I hope you enjoy this little adventurous design! You can buy the Cityscape stencil online pretty easily. I didn’t have time to buy one, I created this on Illustrator by stacking rectangles together. Yep. Pretty easy haha! I create some triangles on a few “buildings” to make it look a little more realistic again. You can print the outline and laminate it, then cut around the outline to make your own stencil at home. Enjoy!

I use these butter based cakes above because they are sturdy under fondant and stable at room temperature, as are the muds.
