Direct Mail Postcard Design Tutorial In Adobe Illustrator

Welcome to episode 1 of Layout Design Bootcamp where my goal is to take you through entire design layouts to show you the exact process of how it’s done. In this very first episode, I continued to implement the brand of “America Votes 2012″ that I developed in Logo Design Bootcamp Episode number 1. This direct mail piece is 8.5×11 and then the finished piece would be folded in half and then wafer sealed for mailing. This tutorial will teach you so many things including:
• Starting your document
• Finding images and setting in Photoshop
• Finding and implementing dummy text
• Creating a clipping mask
• Saving your files correctly for a printer
• Transparencies with objects over images
• Enhancing colors using gradients
• Changing the shape of a text box
• Altering shapes using the pen tool
• Keyboard command shortcuts
• Adding .125 bleed for printing to edge
MY CHALLENGE TO YOU
The goal here is to help you understand all the different ways that things can be designed. To help yourself and every other artist out there, I want everyone who is recreating this layout, to make a version of your own.
